JC Parks hires officials for youth recreational/competitive leagues and adult recreational leagues.

There’s a nationwide shortage of officials in almost every sport. In some communities the shortage is critical and games are being either postponed or cancelled.

Becoming a JC Parks sports official is the easiest call you’ll ever make. Officials protect the integrity of the games our kids love to play by demonstrating qualities like honesty, objectivity, consistency, courage and common sense. They have the opportunity to help kids learn life lessons that will benefit them for a lifetime. As veteran officials continue to retire, new officials have an opportunity to make a huge difference in the lives of hundreds of young people every year.

Youth Baseball/Softball

Tee-Ball/Coach-Pitch Umpire
  • Pay range: $17 – $22 per game
  • Uniform: umpires provide their own collared shirt, hat, and shorts (no jeans)
  • Equipment: umpires provide their own ball/strike indicator.
  • League season: May 19 – June 30, 2025.
    • Rain out rescheduled at the end of the season
    • Season will conclude by July 17, at the latest
  • Qualifications:
    • Experience is preferred, but not required
    • CPR and first aid training recommended
    • Minimum age is 16 years old
Rec Baseball Umpire
  • Pay range: $40 – $45 per game
  • Uniform: umpires provide their own collared shirt, hat, and pants (no shorts, jeans, or ball pants)
  • Equipment: umpires provide their own face mask, chest protector, shin guards, ball/strike indicator, ball pouch, and plate brush
  • League season: May 5 – June 16, 2025
    • Rainouts rescheduled at the end of the season
    • Season will conclude by July 3 at the latest
  • Qualifications:
    • Certification and/or experience required
    • CPR and first aid training recommended
    • Minimum age is 16 years old

 

Youth Rec Softball Umpire
  • Pay range: $40 – $45 per game
  • Uniform: umpires provide their own collared shirt, hat, and pants (no shorts, jeans, or ball pants)
  • Equipment: umpires provide their own face mask, chest protector, shin guards, ball/strike indicator, ball pouch, and plate brush
  • League season: May 5-June 16, 2025

    • Season will conclude by July 3, at the latest

    • Certification and/or experience required

Competitive Baseball/Softball Umpire
  • Pay range: $40 – $45 per game

Youth Rec Basketball Official

JC Parks offers Boys & Girls Jr. NBA leagues for grades 2-4.

  • Pay range: $23 – $25 per game
  • Uniform: officials provide their own black and white striped official’s shirt and black shorts/pants
  • Equipment: officials provide their own whistle
  • League Season: November – December (boys); January – February (girls)
  • Qualifications:
    • Certification and/or experience required
    • CPR and first aid training recommended
    • Minimum age is 16  years old
Youth Competitive Basketball Official

JC Parks offers boys and girls competitive basketball leagues for grades 3-8.

  • Pay range: $25-30 per game
  • Uniform: officials provide their own black and white striped official’s shirt and black shorts/pants
  • Equipment: officials provide their own whistle
  • League season: November – December (boys); January – March (girls)
  • Qualifications:
    • Certification and/or experience required
    • CPR and first aid training recommended
    • Minimum age is 18 years old
High School Hoops Official

JC Parks offers rec basketball leagues for high school-age boys and girls who do not play for their school teams.

  • Pay range: $25-30 per game
  • Uniform: officials provide their own black and white striped official’s shirt and black shorts/pants
  • Equipment: officials provide their own whistle
  • League season: January – March
  • Qualifications:
    • Certification and/or experience required
    • CPR and first aid training recommended
    • Minimum age is 18 years old

Youth Flag Football Official

JC Parks offers flag football leagues for boys and girls in grades 1-6.

  • Pay range: $25 – $30 per game
  • Uniform: officials provide their own black and white striped official’s shirt and black shorts/pants
  • Equipment: officials provide their own whistle
  • League Season: August – October
  • Qualifications:
    • Certification and/or experience preferred
    • CPR and first aid training recommended
    • Minimum age is 16 years old
Youth Hockey Official

JC Parks offers youth hockey house leagues for levels Mite-Bantam.

  • Pay range: $30 – $60 per game
  • Uniform and equipment: officials provide their own shin guards, elbow pads, helmet, protective pants, official’s sweater, skates, and whistle
  • League season: year-round
  • Qualifications:
    • Certification required
    • Minimum age is 16 years old

This is a contract position through Missouri Ice Hockey Officials Association. All officials need to register through the USA Hockey Officiating Program.

Youth Volleyball Official

JC Parks offers indoor rec/competitive volleyball leagues for boys and girls in grades 2-9. Youth sand leagues are available for boys and girls in grades 6-9.

  • Pay range: $19 per match
  • Uniform: No formal uniform
  • Equipment: officials provide their own whistle
  • League Season: spring (indoor) March – May; summer (indoor, sand) June – July
  • Qualifications:
    • Certification and/or experience preferred
    • CPR and first aid training recommended
    • Minimum age is 16 years old

 

Adult Sports

Men's Basketball Official

JC Parks offers men’s rec basketball leagues.

  • Pay range: $25-30 per game
  • Uniform: officials provide their own black and white striped official’s shirt and black shorts/pants
  • Equipment: officials provide their own whistle
  • League season: November – March
  • Qualifications:
    • Certification and/or experience preferred
    • CPR and first aid training recommended
    • Minimum age is 18  years old
Adult Hockey Official

JC Parks offers adult hockey house leagues throughout the year.

  • Pay range: $30 – $60 per game
  • Uniform and equipment: officials provide their own shin guards, elbow pads, helmet, protective pants, official’s sweater, skates, and whistle
  • League season: year-round
  • Qualifications:
    • Certification required
    • Minimum age is 18 years old

  • Pay range: $27 – $32 per game

  • League season: fall; spring; summer
  • Qualifications:
    • Certification and/or experience preferred
