Make McKay Park your afternoon getaway. This 20.4 acre park is a great gathering place for families and friends with many interests between them. From “sweat it out” to “reel ’em in,” you can play your way at McKay!

McKay Lake
Teach your kid to cast or catch up with a buddie from the bank of the large fishing lake. With all the large-mouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, red-ear sunfish, and crappie swimming around, you’re bound to catch something!
Non-motorized, hand-launched boats are permitted on McKay Lake.
If it’s the right time of year, you might even reel in a trout. Every November, the water is stocked with over 2,400 of them in preparation for the Jefferson City Winter Trout Program.
Playground
Watch as your kids make friends during a game of hide and seek on the massive playground. Complete with two jungle gyms, close to parking, and surrounded by covered picnic areas, the playground at McKay Park is the perfect spot to let the kiddos get out and get active.
Bonus: The back of the dam at McKay provides an excellent sledding hill during the winter season!
Fitness Fix
Don’t feel like you have to race kids to the top of the slide for cardio. Our .6 mile multi-purpose fitness loop surrounds the lake, offering the perfect setting for walking or jogging – with a view!
